Understanding the 4Cs of Diamonds

How Quality Is Measured — and Why It Matters

Every diamond is evaluated using four internationally recognized standards: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat. Together, they define not only how a diamond looks, but how it performs in light, longevity, and presence.

At Her Crown, we believe understanding these standards empowers women to choose with confidence—not persuasion.

1. Cut — The Most Important C

Cut determines brilliance.

Cut is not about shape—it is about how precisely a diamond is proportioned and finished to reflect light. A well-cut diamond returns light through the top of the stone, creating sparkle, fire, and life.

At Her Crown:

  • We select only Excellent cut, polish, and symmetry
  • This ensures maximum brilliance and refined light performance
  • No dullness, no light leakage, no compromise

A diamond’s beauty begins with cut.

2. Color — Why D Color Is the Purest Choice

Color measures absence.

Diamond color is graded from D (colorless) to Z (visible yellow or brown tones).
D color is the highest possible grade—completely colorless under professional evaluation.

Why D color matters:

  • It allows light to pass without distortion
  • It pairs perfectly with white, yellow, or rose gold
  • It maintains a crisp, modern appearance over time

At Her Crown, we use D color diamonds only.

3. Clarity — Why VVS Is a Conscious Standard

Clarity measures internal purity.

Clarity refers to natural inclusions formed during diamond growth.
VVS (Very, Very Slightly Included) diamonds contain inclusions that are
extremely difficult to detect, even under magnification.

Why VVS clarity is ideal:

  • The diamond appears perfectly clean to the naked eye
  • Light travels uninterrupted, enhancing brilliance
  • Structural integrity is preserved

Her Crown works with VVS1 only to ensure purity without excess that adds no visible value.

4. Carat — Size Is Personal

Carat measures weight, not beauty.

A higher carat does not guarantee better brilliance. Cut, color, and clarity define how large a diamond appears and how confidently it performs.

We believe carat should be chosen based on:

  • Personal proportion
  • Lifestyle and wearability
  • Design balance

Our designers ensure each carat weight is paired with the correct setting for harmony—not exaggeration.

Why Her Crown Chooses D Color & VVS1 Clarity

We choose the highest standards not to impress—but to simplify.

  • No confusion between grades
  • No hidden trade-offs
  • No compromise disguised as choice

D color and VVS1 clarity represent transparency, precision, and respect for the wearer.

They allow you to focus on what matters most: how the ring feels on your hand, and what it represents in your life.
